Covid-19 modifications:  Youth be be set up at their individual lerning stations with dedicated training materials.  Sations will be spaced at least 2 metres apart.  Youth as well as the instructor will also be wearing masks durinig the class.  Safety is our top priority!

Join us for our Top Choice Award Winning program! Offers basic first aid and caregiving skills for youth 11-15 years old. Participants learn how to provide care to children in a variety of age groups, and how to prevent and respond to emergencies. The course also offers youth the skills to promote themselves as babysitters to prospective families.

The course is taught by a Red Cross First Aid Instructor and runs for 7-8 hours. Students must be a minimum 11 years of age (or have completed Grade 5). Students will receive a certificate and a take-home manual.

Course Content includes how to manage difficult behaviour, strategies for different developmental stages, how to feed and dress children and babies, how to prevent unsafe situations and make safe choices, first aid skills, and the business of babysitting.

To bring: Nut free snacks and lunch, water bottle and doll.

  • How to make good decisions and manage difficult behaviours
  • Information on children’s developmental stages, and specific strategies for each stage
  • How to feed, diaper, dress, and play with children and babies
  • How to recognize and prevent unsafe situations, make safe choices and promote safe behaviours
  • First aid skills
  • The business of babysitting

Cancellation Policy

72 hour notice is required for all cancellations or changes in order to obtain refund. A $30.00 administration fee will incur. Cancellations or switches made within 72 hours of a course will not be refunded or rescheduled.

Lateness for a Course

To ensure your participation in the class, please arrive on time. WSIB has mandated that every student must attend 100% of the course. If late, you will be required to re-register and repay. By registering you are guaranteeing that you will be able to attend the day of training as well as being on time. A basic level of English as well as a comprehensive understanding of the language is required to successfully complete the courses.
