PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRST AID AND CPR:

Standard First Aid is now referred to as Intermediate First Aid and Emergency First Aid is now referred to as Basic First Aid.

Occupational Health and Safety Committee – Basic/Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C or Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR C, for workplaces with 6 or more workers on any shift
Early childhood Educator (E.C.E) programs – Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
Police – Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR (Level BLS (formerly HCP )is recommended)
Fire – Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR – Level BLS ( formerly HCP)
Paramedic – Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR – Level BLS ( formerly HCP)
Nursing – Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR – Level BLS (formerly HCP) is required for most college nursing programs. Nurses who are already practicing are required to re-certify only the CPR portion every year.
Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR- Level C (Level BLS (formerly HCP) is recommended)
Dentistry – Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR- Level BLS (formerly HCP) is required for most college programs but dental assistance are often required to re-certify the CPR portion every year.
Athletic Therapist – CPR Level C (with yearly re-certification) is required. Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR is highly recommended.
Personal trainers – CPR Level C (with yearly re-certification) is required. Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR is highly recommended.
Security Guard – Basic/Emergency First Aid with CPR – Level C
Correctional Officer – Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR – Level C

Developmental Services Worker (DSW) programs – Intermediate/Standard First Aid with CPR- Level C

Fishing Guide, Coast Guard Worker, Recreational Boater, Commercial Fisherman – Marine Basic First Aid
